The nature of ministering can vary as much as the individuals to whom we minister: the family of God within the walls of the church, one’s community – those we meet at work, in the stores, at the park – and those in need around the world. At various other places on our website, service opportunities to those outside the walls of our church are described, and we encourage you to find a place to volunteer and serve.
The ministries described here are those offered at either of our Carter Road locations, our worship center or The Summit youth center. Within this section you will find further descriptions of these ministries, and more.
We offer nursery for infants through 2 year olds, and Small and Mighty for preschoolers age 3 & 4 during each Sunday’s service. We provide a safe and secure environment for your little ones to have fun while you enjoy the service without distraction. If you prefer to have your child with you and they become vocal or need nursed, just take them to our “Cry Room” in room M-9, where you can continue to see and hear the service.
ACTION ZONE is our Sunday morning and Wednesday evening program for kids Pre-K to 5th grade. This is “kid-style” church with fun music, drama, small groups and more. We believe learning about God is just too important not to be fun!
The Summit Youth Ministry
The Summit Youth Ministry meets on Wednesday nights at The Summit Youth Center on the campus of the First Church of God Ministries. The mission of The Summit Youth Ministry is “Continually offering a safe, fun, loving environment where students are encouraged with God’s Word to grow in their relationship with Jesus.”
We accomplish this on Wednesdays nights by offering engaging worship, games, challenging teachings, then taking it deeper with small group discussions. Occasionally we gather for fun outings, such as hockey or baseball games, and offer service projects for the students to give back to the church body and community.
Join us on Wednesday nights, the doors open at 5:45pm for café eats and fellowship with Praise and Worship starting at 6:30pm. We finish out the night around 8:00pm. For more information on this ministry contact HeidiAnn 419-782-4132.
There are many opportunities for adults to learn, grow, and connect – just browse through the upcoming events linked at the right, or the listings under GET CONNECTED.
Sole Sisters is a group of women walking side by side not only during their time together but in faith. We will meet on Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 pm and Saturdays at 9 am. Tuesday nights will include a devotional and a group discussion in addition to walking. Find out more.
Rainbow Promise Preschool and Daycare
Rainbow Promise Child Care Center has been established as an outreach ministry to the community of Defiance. It is a non-profit institution. Any funds received by the Center are used for operation of the Center. Our main purpose is to offer quality child care for working parents.
It is the Center’s aim to help your child develop socially, emotionally, physically, and mentally for school and life adjustment. Your child will be provided many opportunities and varied experiences which will enable him to achieve sound growth in this period of rapid development. We do not feel that the Center is a substitute for the home, but that it will be a supplement to aid in the family experience. The Center is a place where your child can learn to cooperate with others and can be active and creative under the guidance of dedicated leadership. He will learn to share, take turns, have quiet time, and use and replace equipment and materials properly.
The Center gives your child an opportunity to grow independently and to accept responsibility for his own behavior. The program is directed by trained people with experience working with infants, toddlers, pre-school and school aged children. It is more than a “Baby-Sitting Service”. It is our desire to introduce school readiness in a developmentally appropriate way so children will have a positive introduction to the world of learning.
